Financial Content: Designing Engagement at the Top of the Funnel

Context
Financial IQ was more than a content hub — it was the bank’s flagship financial education platform, designed to build trust and connect users to meaningful products. In 2025, our design strategy team partnered with FIQ stakeholders to reimagine how education and engagement could intersect to deliver measurable business value.

Challenge
Financial IQ had built strong awareness and steady traffic, but its homepage wasn’t converting attention into engagement. Many visitors explored a single article and left, suggesting that the site’s depth and value weren’t fully visible. The experience offered rich content but lacked clear pathways for exploration or personalization.

The opportunity was to evolve FIQ from an information hub into an active learning environment — one that would guide users toward relevant content, spark curiosity, and strengthen their connection to the brand.

Approach
We began with a full content and interaction audit, mapping the user journey from entry to exit. Insights led to a new thematic structure, streamlined navigation, and more flexible content templates. We designed interactive elements — goal-based quizzes, debt payoff calculators, and trivia-style microgames — to make learning personal and rewarding.

We drew inspiration from consumer media sites like Glamour and digital magazines, emphasizing editorial warmth over institutional tone. Cross-functional workshops and rapid prototyping enabled us to deliver a complete homepage and article redesign in weeks, not months.

Transforming a 70% bounce rate to a 106% increase in engagement

Impact
Eight of nine proposed article page enhancements were adopted, including a persistent call to action that drove a 106% increase in engagement. Three of five homepage redesigns went live, reducing drop-off and increasing section interactions. Within four weeks, the new design system informed paid media campaigns, accelerating adoption and brand consistency.

Interactive features like the goal-based quiz helped match users with content and products most relevant to their goals — generating richer behavioral insights and supporting measurable conversion lift.

Relevance to Today
Financial IQ’s evolution reflects the future of digital content — where personalization, AI, and behavioral design converge to create experiences that feel both intelligent and human. It demonstrates how design strategy can transform a passive content hub into a living, learning platform that builds trust, deepens engagement, and drives business growth.
